The venue first hosted a Grand Prix in 2010, when it was awarded the IRTA Best Grand Prix of the Year – the very first time a circuit received the accolade on debut.
The track is longer than most, at 5,1 kilometres with 17 corners and the longest straight just under 1 000 metres. MotorLand Aragon is now the sixth circuit in Spain to host MotoGP racing, alongside Valencia, Montjuic, Jarama, Jerez and Catalunya. The region is also well known for its rich heritage of street racing, which was hosted in the nearby town of Alcañiz between 1963 and 2003.
Alcañiz provides a delightful foray into traditional Spanish culture, with numerous cafes, bars and restaurants spilling out onto the streets.
